..and so the wheel turns

My morning walk takes me down an ancient bridleway where the hedges are laden with sloe, rose hip and blackberry and the trees are aflame with the rich colours of autumn.  The Fieldfare have returned to gorge on the bounty ahead of the long cold days of winter. It’s the time for nature to batten down the hatches and for us to flash up the central heating. And yet, within the tilled fields, wheat and barley seeds are germinating and over the coming weeks will turn the countryside green once again and herald the start of another farming year.
